Becoming a maintainer
Hello @vic
I'm @k-asm from MIXI, a Japan-based company. We run a service called MIXI M, a financial service, and heavily rely on your awesome project for our Elixir-based software. Your work has been crucial for us, and we really appreciate it.
We saw that you're looking for maintainers, and we'd love to help out. Our team wants to contribute in order that this project continues to thrive.
@vic I would be grateful for your response 🙏
Hello, @vic. I'd like to add my voice in petitioning for some updates to this fine utility library or to allow another to take over its maintenance.
At the very least I would like to inquire as to your plans for this utility as if you do not intend to return to it, more than one of us would be happy to take over.
Dear @k-asm If you are willing, I would be happy to support you as the new maintainer for this package. I have already sent an email directly to the owner of this repo, but due to a lack of response both here and via private message, it seems prudent to begin a Naming Dispute request with hex.pm
https://hex.pm/policies/dispute#if-you-wish-to-acquire-an-existing-package-name
I didn't copy [email protected] in on my original message, so the request would have to be started from scratch, but given the amount of time we've already waited, it probably would be a good time to start.
@mpinkston
Thank you for the good advice!
I've sent the email to the owners and [email protected] to want to take over the ownership of naming.
Hey!
Sorry for not being able to answer this in so much time. I had been away from computers living another life.
I'll add @k-asm as admin for this repo right now. And will try to access my hex.pm account to also allow them to push releases.
:)
Cheers!
@k-asm Can you provide me your hex.pm username ? I'll add you as owner for params.
@vic
Thank you for response! My hex.pm username is https://hex.pm/users/k-asm
Done!
Now you have admin right on this repo and its hex.pm package.
Adding owner k-asm with ownership level full to params
@vic
Thanks, I've confirmed I have admin privileges on the hex.pm package.
However, it seems my permissions for the this repo are not admin, is that correct? I cannot see the repository's settings tab.
Looks like GitHub only lets me add as collaborator, unless the repo was transferred outside of my personal account (eg, to an org where I guess other kind of roles like admin are available).
Anyway, I believe the collaborator access is sufficient by now, as it gives you write access and can merge PR and create releases at your discretion. And maybe I granted too much permissions on the hex.pm package 🙃.
I was thinking about removing the "looking for maintainer" notice on the readme file (do it if you are willing) but we previously had other people helping maintain this repo besides me. So I guess only time will tell if we can finally remove that notice.
I'll close this issue for now, thanks for volunteering, @k-asm .
