Swiss Army Knives can hold (but not start with) multitools.
What this does
Swiss Army Knives are now compatible with multitools, as in, you can just slot one in. THEY DO NOT START WITH A MULTITOOL, this only lets you add one to them, should you get one.
Why it's good
Flows way better when using a swiss when hacking, since you can just slot it in instead of having to juggle.
How it was tested
Spawned a swiss army knife and a multitool, checked the swiss first, it had no multitool (intended), slotted the multitool in, worked as intended. Checked the regular switchtool, didn't seem to have any issue either. :cl:
- rscadd: Swiss Army Knives can now hold multitools, if you can find one. They (still) do not start with a multitool inside.
Doesn't it need a sprite for that too?
There's one already, it's used on the engi and regular switchtool, so the overlay is already there and works as intended.
now we just need to give them a cable coil holder and an upgraded lighter aka welder
now we just need to give them a cable coil holder and an upgraded lighter aka welder
funnily enough, there's already code to handle both cablecoils and welders (for the engi switchtool)
The Swiss Army Knife is already insanely powerful, toolbelts basically don't even have a reason to exist as is because of them. I don't think this needs even more creep.
I also feel like it's worth mentioning that if you're hacking a door open you can do that with the provided tools already. You don't need to pulse the test wire, you can simply cut it instead so long as you don't intend to hack that door again later.
extreme powercreep
Please stop trying to make these things culturally relevant again.
The strongest of power creeps. The swiss army knife is widely available, cheap, and infinite. And it has nearly every tool in a pocket-sized format. Most players either love it because it removes a whole kinda annoying mechanic of the game (getting tools and storing them on your person easily, having to switch between them), and others hate it because of the same reason. This makes the 'problem' worse at no cost, and the feedback reflects this at 2-7 as of this post.
I have asked upon my three patron saints, and imagined their response. PrimeD says that it's bad, so I will agree.
If you want a multitool in your pocket along side every other tool, I think the already-existing engineering switchtool could be added to the game in a non-vault obtainable way. High research+NT tech disk perhaps?
it is what it is
