stream randomly stops / crashes

occasionally on my channels that run 30+ minute episodes, the stream will just stop if i have it running for longer than a certain time (that length of time i have not yet determined yet). nothing in the logs aside from the stream just stopping...

it's easy to catch while watching it, because the stream will either hang or (lately) the video hangs but the audio either keeps going or keeps going with a stutter. i don't think i've ever seen it happen on channels where i just have shorter episodes running.

happy to get any additional logs i can, just tell me what i'm looking for...

anyone have any idea how i can start troubleshooting this? on one of my shows it happens pretty much every other episode, without fail...

I'm having this same problem, ffmpeg transcoding is disabled as I'm using Direct Play. I've reconverted all my videos to the same format HEVC (mkv), and yet this keeps happening as described here except that for me is movies instead of episodes.

Please help!

to be honest, i haven't seen it happen in a long time. the one thing i've done since posting this that may have had an effect is switch from mpeg2video to libx264, but i'm also running a custom version that allows me access to the encoder speed. not sure if that had anything to do with it either...

i need to get a PR out for this and see if @vexorian can get it merged into the codebase, since i think it's a valid option to have.
