Different templates for different sections

I'm using custom templates for my website but I just wondering if it's possible to use different custom templates for different sections.

I want to change some elements in section X so that it can be different from section Y. Is it possible to do something like this?

Not natively, you'll need to continue using template overrides for this purpose. It's probably not something we'll add, as fo most cases, you'll want a drop-in comments solution applicable site-wide. But of course, you're free to customise it exactly how you need with custom templates.
