Allow subscribe settings for guest posters

Would it be possible to allow guest posters to subscribe to a thread or auto subscribe them? Not sure if this is the same as this request? https://github.com/verbb/comments/issues/172

My biggest concern about this is how to manage your subscribed status. If you comment on something, and are then automatically subscribed as a guest, how would you un-subscribe?

For example, with Disqus, or Facebook, you need an account to subscribe.

Yeah, I see that and I understand the concerns over the logic. I don' have an answer, but some ideas are;

• If you are a guest and click the subscribe/unsubscribe button are you are taken to a page to enter your email address and this then adds a flag against this thread/email in the database to be subscribe/unsubscribed.

• Alternative this could be handled by email only. So you can only unsubscribe via the email notification, this could potentially be a little more secure and measured. So you could potentially have a hashed id or something that ties to the guest email and then clicking on the link in the email, could trigger an action to unsubscribe. Naturally this only works one way though.

I am happy to chat over ideas if this helps at all Josh. Ping me on Discord if you want to talk over ideas. I will also add that this isn't a huge requirement, so appreciate if the trade-off is too high then this won't be worth implementing.
