Veracrypt on Hyper-V?

Open jol64 opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

I installed a new virtual machine with Windows 21H2 today, hosted on Hyper-V 2019 server. Gen 2 (UEFI), installed VeraCrypt 1.25.9, and tried to enrypt the system partition. Turned off Safe Boot after being prompted to restart. Entered my encryption password during the system test and succeeded with that.

Expected behavior

After restart I expected VeraCrypt to encrypt the system

Observed behavior

Instead got an error message "The VeraCrypt system encryption pretest failed. ..."

And w.r.t. the notes:

  • the boot loader did ask and claimed authentication succeeded.
  • I selected AES
  • Did n´t find something on troubleshooting.html that did help me

Steps to reproduce

  1. See above intro

VeraCrypt version: 1.25.9

Operating system and version: Windows 21H2 19044.1288

System type: 64bit

Motivation

I am using Bitlocker in general, but wanted to test compatiblity of my own software with VeraCrypt. In particular I am wondering whether there is an easy way to check that the system is encrypted using VeraCrypt, similar to manage-bde -status c: .
