Erase encryption keys from ram if new device is inserted problem
Hello, @idrassi I think I have discovered a problem with this option, currently running Windows 10 2004, when you enable this it can after sometime cause BSOD or in other words I suppose erase the encryption keys without inserting any device into the machine, this has also happend me on windows 10 1909. I made a clean install of Windows 2004 x64 and installed the latest veracrypt update 7.
Thanks for the report and sorry for the late feedback.
I will try to reproduce. it looks like there is a virtual device insertion that is wrongly detected as physical device. Normally there is already a check for this but maybe a new type of virtual devices was introduced. I will let you know.
This issue has been automatically marked as stale because it has not had recent activity. It will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.
I still didn't have a chance to investigate this further. I will try to reproduce in a VM first.
As indicated in this Sourceforge thread, a new implementation of the clear keys option was done (commit https://github.com/veracrypt/VeraCrypt/commit/e8f83544ead2011112788d48bff610574f5d6395) and it is available for testing in 1.26.5 version available in Nightly Builds folder of Sourceforge.
I'm attaching the setup installer of 1.26.5 here for reference: VeraCrypt Setup 1.26.5.zip
