VeraCrypt 1.26.24 fails to mount on macOS Sequoia 15.6 (“Failed to obtain administrator privileges”)

Open theooehlein opened this issue 4 months ago • 0 comments

Description: On macOS Sequoia 15.6 (Intel), VeraCrypt is unable to mount any volume. After selecting the volume and entering the password, the process fails with:

Erlangen der Administrator-Privilegien fehlgeschlagen

This happens consistently, even when launching VeraCrypt with sudo from Terminal.

Environment: • macOS Sequoia 15.6 • Intel Mac (admin user, no other accounts) • VeraCrypt 1.26.24 (clean install) • Previous version fully removed before reinstall • Full Disk Access enabled • macFUSE latest stable version installed and loaded • No “blocked system software” notifications from macOS • Error occurs immediately after password entry during mount

What we checked: • macFUSE kernel extension is loaded • VeraCrypt helper launches but cannot obtain elevated privileges • Launching with sudo produces the same error • System Integrity Protection still enabled (default) • Issue started after macOS 15 update; worked previously

Expected behaviour: VeraCrypt should obtain administrator privileges and mount the volume normally.

Actual behaviour: Fails immediately after password input with the privilege error.

Question: Has macOS Sequoia 15 introduced changes that break VeraCrypt’s privilege escalation or helper mechanism? Are there known workarounds or an upcoming fix?

Thanks for your support!
