Lost key presses in pre-boot password entry
Expected behavior
All key presses are registered.
Observed behavior
Key presses are lost at the beginning of the pre-boot password and PIN entries. A carefully entered password 123456789... results in 136890... . A carefully entered PIN with ten characters shows only a length of 6. The appearance of the first character is delayed.
It seems the first key press is always working. If I press first F5 to show me what I type then it does not start with 1. So apparently F5 is seen as first press. The dropping of key presses does not depend on how long I wait before I start typing. When I press the first password character and wait until the asterisk appears (after maybe two seconds), then I can immediately type the rest of the password without lost key presses. This is for the moment my workaround.
I could not find a similar bug report, but it is not easy to find the correct search phrase.
Steps to reproduce
- Install system encryption
- Turn on computer
- Enter password on the pre-boot password/PIN prompts
