Access denied over LAN folder sharing on a VeraCrypt volume
It appears that sharing a mounted VeraCrypt volume over a LAN is no longer possible when the host PC is running Windows 10 or later. I encountered "permission denied" errors when accessing a shared folder on the VeraCrypt volume.
I have tried all possible solutions to adjust the system settings, including—but not limited to—disabling the Windows Firewall, modifying all security settings in Windows Security, and experimenting with different sharing and permission configurations. However, the issue persists.
This problem may have been reported several times in the past without any effective workaround, so I would like to raise it again. Please help me resolve this issue.
Expected behavior
Access folders on the encrypted VeraCrypt volume without errors.
Observed behavior
Receiving "permission denied" errors when attempting to access the shared folder.
Steps to reproduce
- Mount an encrypted VeraCrypt volume on a Windows 10 or later PC.
- Set up folder sharing on the mounted volume.
- Attempt to access the shared folder from another PC on the LAN.
Your Environment
- Microsoft Windows Version: 10.0.19045.5247
- VeraCrypt Version: 1.26.15 (64-bit)
I am also looking for a solution to this problem. I can share folders/files on a mounted Veracrypt file container but not from a mounted Veracrypt volume.
