Secure Desktop Does Not Exit On Windows 11 Once Launched To Mount (doesn't matte if cancelled/successful/failed)

Open Kalanyr opened this issue 1 month ago • 0 comments

This seems to be a return of similar prior issues with not exiting the secure desktop in previous builds, but the issue is much more severe now, it happens every time the secure desktop is launched by veracrypt and repairing or uninstalling and reinstalling veracrypt does not solve the problem even temporarily.

This seems to be very new (probably related to the Windows May Patch Tuesday) but I can't be sure of the exact date.

Expected behaviour

Secure Desktop should be exited when it's no longer required.

Observed behaviour

On the current (28/05/2024) Windows 11 (x86-64) the Secure Desktop doesn't exit after it's launched, leaving you in a black screen that can't do anything other than use Task manager to launch applications as Administrator (if you can) or to log out / restart /etc).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enable Secure Desktop For Passwords
  2. Attempt to Mount A Device.

Screenshots

Can't take screenshots in the secure desktop environment.
