Why does this error appear? I will try to explain/report in detail in order to provide useful data.
Followed the instructions word by word but I get this error, the funny thing is it worked the first time I tried it and I was able to boot successfully directly. Created the virtual machine using VirtualBox, installed Mint and that's it, it worked.
- Then tried a new install with a diff Ubuntu versions and just didn't work.
- Tried from scratch again, didn't work.
- Got rid of VirtualBox and tried VMWARE with Xubuntu, didn't work.
- Tried again with Mint, didn't work.
Been trying over and over and just fails, same error. Then decided to restart and try version .24 and same error (went back thinking perhaps .25 broke something) but no, just refused over and over. You asked about /dev/mapper/ventoy, and no there was no such thing. Was about to give up and then it just worked !???. I have no idea what's the difference except perhaps repeated boot/restarts?
Ventoy is a nice tool, thanks for the work, I'm already using it to boot Windows VHD configs, I hope some light can be brought over this on Linux because it's not consistent, I mean, it's not clear on why it works at times. This is my simplified report.
