Release as Appimage
Ship as Appimage as they work on pretty much all distributions.
This saves a lot of hassle of extraction and searching for entry point etc.
Also using pkexec
to elevate to root and automatically opening ventoy web UI with xdg-open
would increase the 'GUIness' of the application
See this:

deb != appimage
Appimage is a bit bloated, but it has advantages compared Snap or Flatpack, and Appimage is easier for many users. Please do it because an Appimage:
- Is helpful for Windows users who are slowly using and migrating to Linux (growing population)
- Is helpful for the kids or the elderly or disabled or cannot type fast or need on-screen virtual keyboard (growing population)
- Is likely not bigger than the ISO version, which is useful in specific situations, and easier than ISO in many situations
- Will increase the user base of Ventoy
FYI, as a developer, I don't like Appimage much. As a simple user, I understand the appeal, and I get why it's increasingly popular. No one else should make the Appimage except the developers of Ventoy. Please reconsider and include an Appimage with each release. Thank you, and don't let the arguments against Appimage become like ... Systemd (FYI, I like runnit much better than systemd), There is a place for Ventoy Appimage. Please do it for the growing number of users who prefer Appimage packages. Thank you..
I fully agree with the OP. Please consider releasing this as an AppImage. No more dependancy-Hell for both developers and end-users which translates to less support and the devs knows the application works at all times.
AppImages are very easy to create and can even be automated for every release.
@dandar appimages are kind of the best packaging format for apps like Ventoy, Etcher, and other software which you don't use daily hench don't need to be installed.
And single file has less clutter, and, Appimages use squashfs where the compression ratio is really good (very very significant). And it is highly portable of course.
And appimages provide a very nice entrypoint, simply double-clicking them can be made to launch the script and make the script automatically open default browser by xdg-open
making it much more user friendly.
With the Linux GUI now released, an AppImage would be great since it will allow easy installation for all distros, its a portable app. balenaEtcher users an AppImage to flash ISOs also.
