What happened?
A bug happened!
The error message is as follows:
I have tried to boot with both the latest version of Ventoy and the previous release 1.0.79 which was previously working.
I am quite new to Ventoy so the error may simple but I would appreciate help getting it working.
I tried to boot into both the latest Manjaro release, Ubuntu and Tails.
Try downloading 1.0.79 and pressing Update button. Does it still work?
P.S. Screenshot shows 1.0.79 ?????
maybe after you update to 1.0.80 you did not run sync and eject before unplugging USB drive?
In that photo I rolled back to the previous version of Ventoy in hopes that this would fix the problem.
Do you know the meaning behind the error message?
I just updated back to the latest version again and the issue persists:
So 1.0.79 and 1.0.80 both fail? It seems to be a memory error. Maybe the system has bad RAM. Run a memory test. Does it give same error on a different system?
I actually ran a complete hardware diagnostics test a few days ago following the same line of thought.
Just out of interest I just rolled back my ventoy version back to 1.0.65 and found that Ventoy is completely functional again.
I found this previous issue which seems to be similar to my case:
https://github.com/ventoy/Ventoy/issues/1671
This was fixed by the devs with a CI release in the thread, hopefully the devs will be able to fix this issue here too.
OK - May help the devs to run the command on your system so they can see your memory map and try grub2 mode?
When you boot into Ventoy menu, press c to enter grub shell and run vt_efi_dump_rsv_page command and give me the
result.
Try grub2 mode. https://www.ventoy.net/en/doc_grub2boot.html
Did you test the 32GB pendrive? It could be a fake. Test it using H2TESTW or FakeFlashTest or fill with video files and then play the first file and the last file to see if they are corrupt.
