What happened?
- Set up Persistence file. I tried several, including persistence_ext4_4GB_MX-Persist.dat
- Use VentoyPlugson.exe to configure ventoy.json file
- Legacy or MBR boot (no secure boot used in Ventoy2Disk)
- Select ISO and select Persistent file
- In MX menu - select Advanced and persist_all
- In boot options select from=all (as USB HDD is used)
- Boot to MX Linux
- MX-Persist ext4 volume is detected and user is prompted to make home and rootfs persistence files
- User asked to set new passwords
- Boot to MX Desktop - persistence appears to be enabled - (can make new folder on desktop and if reboot it is still there)
- Shutdown - persistence save seems to be done.
- Now repeat 3-7 - user is prompted to enter root and user passwords again (!) - after doing this you get Desktop with new folder.
The problem is that sudo password does not seem to work (not demo or root or password set by user on boot) and every time you boot you have to set the new passwords again.
This does not happen if you use Partition 3 to store the persistence files on in Step 8 above.
Persistence file seems to have both homefs and rootfs
i have the exact same issue
I have the same issue with MX-23_x64. But it works with MX-19.4_x64
