OpenBSD.Amsterdam. Duh. Why is AES-NI an requirement? To help speed up the key generation and GPG actions?

Although everything works without AES-NI, I would require it for performance reasons:

  • Dovecot replication over SSH
  • Backups over SSH
  • Auto-GPG inbound https://github.com/vedetta-com/caesonia/issues/145
  • VPN (ipsec) tunnels e.g. for logs (I experiment with this ;)

DigitalOcean - expect inoperable ipv6. Tangentially related to #151.

How to “hack” DigitalOcean to run OpenBSD w/ native IPv6 https://mitchriedstra.com/2018/11/openbsd-and-ipv6-on-digital-ocean.html

The hostname, in DO control panel, must be set to the real hostname for reverse DNS. Thanks Franz Geffke for the link! Tested on 2019-01-31

OpenBSD.Amsterdam +1

I am running this on OpenBSD.Amsterdam, it's great so far.

  • Running on dedicated OpenBSD vmd servers
  • €60 / year (€10 will be donated to OpenBSD Foundation)
  • 512M RAM (+€10 for another 512MB)
  • 50G HDD
  • Dedicated IPv4 (DHCP assigned) and dedicated IPv6 (/64).
  • Console access with vmctl(8) using cu(1).
  • Reverse DNS upon request.
  • Running on AS3265 (XS4ALL) and AS60131.
