Spawner faction spitters produce attack drones after target leaves max range area

Is it by design, that spawner spitter standing out of range from my buildings (its range is 10) is sending its proxies? Or it's a random unique situation? And shouldn't those eggs be thrown at some range in attack target direction (looks like they fall exactly in the same tile spitter is standing in)? Looks more like Wasp Spitter behavior here.
I got such situation only once so far. I don't know what caused it. But I have a gamesave with it.
After some playing against many spawner faction nests I can say the problem is stable. Spawner spitter starts attacking and never ever stops despite the fact no player char or structures are in range for triggering attack - NOT like in the video where my turrets were in some indirect range. Actual for version 3.2.0.
Now spawner spitter looses some health with every drones generation and after 5..10 waves it dies, therefore it is not endless anymore. Proxies hordes attack or die due to negative health regeneration values.
