How to enable Encoder in Firmware

Is there any resource on how to enable specific Encoders (like Sin Cos that is already coded in)

I would like to use SinCos encoder, I can set it in the VESCTool, however once I try to configure it I get promotetet „not enabled in firmware“ does anyone have instructions or resources on this?
