Missing lines in figure - image rendering error

Describe the bug Parts of a figure in a published paper do not show up in pdf-view, though they do in doc-view and other pdf readers.

Steps to Reproduce the behaviour Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

1. Download this PDF: https://aip.scitation.org/doi/pdf/10.1063/5.0086357
2. Look at Fig 2 on page 4 using pdf-tools and doc-view
3. In pdf-tools, there are several lines missing from the figure.

What is the expected behaviour? All lines in the figure should appear

Desktop

• OS: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS

• Emacs Version: 28.2

• Poppler Version: 22.02.0

• OS: Mac OSX Monterrey

• Emacs Version: 28.2

• Poppler version: not sure right now...

Your pdf-tools install

• pdf-tools Version: 20221202.1104
• no customizations

Additional context

• problem also occurs with atril 1.26.0 and the pdf viewer that ships with firefox 106.0.4.
• problem does NOT occur with okular 21.12.3
• both atril and okular use the same version of poppler.
