No I didn't.

Luckily, I am using the Openfire server, then enabling the REST API plugin, which has an endpoint for creating a new user.

can you explain this more for me? i will appreciate it. i'm deploying ejabberd on aws can i still do the same???

@sana2024 yes you can do the same with ejabberd server, You just need to allow the admin apis fom ejabberd.
