Error message too verbose by default

The error message looks quite verbose now:

I think previously we only see that read line at default verbosity?

BTW, without opening a new ticket -- a good test for VAT 3.0 would be this tutorial:

i think i've once shared it. The data are in the public github repo and external software I packed here (for testing purpose not redistribution). Currently VAT 3.0 still does not work for it.
