Helm package

Problem to Solve

I would be happy if Typedb would have clear documentation, process and support for deploying on Kubernetes. We've tested Grakn in the past using a simple deployment / stateful set. We're currently looking at Typedb to help with certain elements of our system and it seems like a great fit, but lacks in this area ( from what I could find, would love for this issue to simply be closed as my mistake )

Proposed Solution

Create an official Helm chart and/or operator to streamline on-k8s adoption

Additional Information

We use Flux for managing staging/production ( with HelmRelease custom resources ), and use the same manifests for running our components locally using kind, so this kind of support impacts our dev process as well. Supported charts / operators also help us align our environments to best practices and cover operations / day to day semantics.

@bbenzikry thank you for reporting in!

We offer Kubernetes deployments of our enterprise offering, TypeDB Cluster. You can get in touch with our team and chat about it via email: [email protected].

Hi @vmax thanks for the quick response, I'll be sure to contact the team.

I will say however I feel it's important for testing any version of the offering and helping the community ( I'm sure there are many bright users of the non commercial offering who can help out and find issues ) As an example, Neo4j's chart really helped us go from community to enterprise swiftly, while still aligning with their licensing model.

Hi @bbenzikry,

Yeah you make a good point.

We're gonna have some discussion with the team and get back to you!

+1 I'm trying to deploy typeDB to create a prototype. Not having an easy path to build my prototype with the free version, and this is clearly not helping me to move to the TypeDB cluster solution in the future

Obviously a cloud service would help even more to get some mass adoption.

Focusing on that would clearly not enhance your conversion ratio but would multiply x10 the number of devs building prototypes on typeDB which would enlarge your community in addition to bring you lots of new customers in the mid term :)
