your change is not equivalent -- it's changing the file offset when you use lseek. please change the code to use pread/pwrite instead. you should also split the commits up...

if you're going to cronjob it, why don't you just run the tlsdate client directly ? running the tlsdated daemon as a one-shot doesn't make much sense.

tlsdated.conf is clearly documented in the man page, as is the plain tlsdate command. please read them.

(1) AS_IF is provided by autoconf itself. autoconf-2.69-6 on my system defines it in /usr/share/autoconf/m4sugar/m4sh.m4. same goes for all the other AC/AS macros you describe. tlsdate must not mess around...
