Recommended section is there. Nothing in it, but can't get 6 rows of pins.

3rd party tweak software installed

Not sure. I'm only using EP.

Describe the bug

I have three Win 11 computers running EP. One of them will not hide the recommended section no matter if it is set to remove it in EP or not. The other two computers have it removed. I've tried enabling hiding it in Group policy and a registry edit, which was already set to remove it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling EP. No effect.

Expected outcome

Recommended section in the Start Menu to go away. It used to, but won't anymore on just one of my three computers.

Actual outcome

Nothing. Recommend section will not go away.

This is a known issue in windows itself: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/remove-recommended-section-from-start-menu-is-not/ba6c469e-565b-4eb1-9d75-12ba0dcc75c3

The forum there shows them trying to remove the recommended section of the windows 11 start menu through group policy, and it still doesn't work. More then likely, EP is just setting a value in the registry to try to remove it. I don't think it actually does anything more then that.

Ok. It just puzzles me why 2 out of my 3 machines do not have the recommended section and 1 still does. I even tried exporting EP settings from one of the other 2 that the section is gone and importing it into EP in the 1 that still has the recommended section. That didn't even work.

So just to be sure:

  1. In 2 pc's, you do not see the option in EP Properties application for recommended?
  2. In 1 pc, you see the option in EP Properties application for recommended?

I have the option on all PCs to disable recommended and it's checked on all of them. It works on 2, but not the third. I have the same version of EP on all of them.

Please check the windows version and build number all are the same on all pc's. If the 2 that works does not match the 1 that does not work, that could be why.

But again, check the forum link I posted. It's 2 years old and it shows it not working on windows 11 as expected through group policy.

All three PCs are this....

I did look at that forum link. Didn't look like anything there that would help. I've already tried the suggestions in there.

The forum link is supposed to show that this issue is something for MS to fix, and they haven't for 2 years as that is how old the forum post is.
