Open File Explorer (it opens to 'Home')
Navigate somewhere
Navigate back to 'Home' (or click the back button)
File Explorer crashes and restarts
Edit: After restoring default settings and applying changes one by one, I believe
File Explorer -> Control Interface*: Windows 10 Ribbon
is the setting causing the crash.
Please include any other software you have installed that modifies the UI of windows.
I also encountered this now. Anyone who knows the fix for this?
If you're on windows 11 22h2, try upgrading to windows 11 23h2.
@pyrates999 No need. This happens under 22H2 as well. This actually began when they switched to WinUI 3 for the File Explorer extensions stuff back in 226x1.2283 days which is a good 9 months ago. This only happened because they have removed the feature flags related to XAML home page and the Gallery page which EP used to disable them when the 11 command bar is not used.
I will make a fix within a week.
Did you also encountered crashing on the settings app? it also happen when you visit the home page tab.
It actually crashes with various reasons, for me it started crashing when I tried to move whatsapp desktop between my monitors, Whatsapp got stuck in loading and explorer just went straight into abyss, after uninstalling it works normal again
It's good to know this is already known issue. The "Home" view layout is broken and trying to change any of it crashes the file explorer. The view layout is broken in the Win11 Ribbon and Win10 Ribbon. It's only in "Home" though.
Hello, I don't know if this is the same issue or not, I am able to open explorer on "Home", but whenever navigating to another address and then trying to use "back", explorer crashes. W11-23H2, win10 style. Latest release.

When reporting something as also happening to you, it is useful to include your windows version and build, and EP version that you installed.

2/3 included before, completed now.
23h2 is not the windows version and build number.
You spent all that energy to tell me what you don't need and none left to tell me what is it you need. The same amount of energy would suffice to tell me directly but no, you rather let me do additional research as if I didn't have enough to do already. I'm not paid for this feedback either, you know. It's not something I'm doing to bother you, it is a free service I provide. I will include this whenever I get a chance. If my funding allows it.

Soooo... any progress on this? Because it's been 4 months and several updates since the fix would be out within a week and its still crashing everytime.
Obviously, if it's just taking that long, that's fine - I'd just appreciate an update rather than just constantly hoping the next update will be the one that fixes it.
what version of EP do you currently have installed?
Version 22621.3880.66.5 (according to the 'about' section)
That section also says it's running on Windows 11, OS Build 22631.4037 and the 'updates' section says there aren't any updates, if that helps.
66.5 was just released.

O... kay? I'm aware of that, that seems like the version I've got and it still does it, so, forgive me, but I don't see how that helps.
