Explorer Patcher 22621.2506.60.1_a7a3d27

Windows: Windows 11 Home 23H2 22631.2861 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22681.1000.0 (Italian)

With Explorer Patcher installed the Windows Desktop Slideshow is disabled and every time the PC is started\restarted, the desktop wallpaper is stuck to the last used image.

To restart the slideshow i need to go to the slideshow option panel, set another interval and then change it back to the one i want. I also can't change the interval to a personalized time trought regedit, the problem is solved only by switching the calues in the proper option menu.

I removed Open-Shell and RetroBar but the problem persistend, removing ExplorerPatcher will solve it.

Please include what settings you changed in explorer patcher properties application.

Please include any other software you have installed that modifies the UI of windows.

I uninstalled the other programs that can affect it, Open-Shell and RetroBar, to try if they where the culprit (the answer is no) so this is tested with only ExplorerPatcher installed.

The setting are those:

(EDITED Registry Entry)

The slide show is a screen saver?

pyrates999 avatar Dec 17 '23 04:12 pyrates999

Nope, it's the Desktop Background Image, the Slideshow setting let you chose a folder with multimple images and an interval of time, after the interval pass the next image is automatically shown on the desktop in an endless cycle.

It seem for some reason ExplorerPatcher will prevent the image change when the ssytem start\restart, but if i st a new interval form the proper menu it will start cycliong again, the i need to select my preferred interval again.

The setting is here: Settings > Personalization > Background Slideshow Settings This is just an image i found, my ssystem Language is Italian, i think this is more easy to understand. I usually set it to 1 Minute.

Please enable symbols download in Advanced. You should never disable that.

Set the background image to change every 1 minute.

Then go to advanced, and click on enable console. Check if symbols were able to be downloaded. When you expect the background image on the desktop to change, copy and paste the results of the EP console here.

pyrates999 avatar Dec 17 '23 10:12 pyrates999

Ok, i enabled symbols download, downloaded them and restarted (the slideshow is still stopped).

This is what happen by making the slideshow work:

Ok, always make sure that you have enabled symbols to download. They are a technical requirement to making EP work.

Now please wait for a developer to respond.

pyrates999 avatar Dec 18 '23 04:12 pyrates999

Thank you.

Nuriell avatar Dec 18 '23 11:12 Nuriell

This seem to be solved by last version, i'll keep looking at the situation for some time to be sure.

Nuriell avatar Dec 24 '23 06:12 Nuriell

Ok, this is NOT solved, yesterday all was working properly, today not.

But i don't think it just stop the slideshow, i think it is automaticaly setted to something high like the max value of 24 hours? I'm not completely sure, i will look if there are other chances.

Nuriell avatar Dec 25 '23 06:12 Nuriell

Keep the EP console open then to capture when the wallpaper does change.

pyrates999 avatar Dec 25 '23 08:12 pyrates999

I enabled the console, nothing at all is added t it when the wallpaper change, only if i manually change the time setting it add

SystemParametersInfoW

I waited different cycles, restarted the PC and tried again, nothng.

But one time i misclicked and clicked "Dump Memory Leaks" in the advenced setting, the slideshow that it was working stopped again.

Nuriell avatar Dec 27 '23 06:12 Nuriell

Ok, so to test this, you set the wallpaper to change every 1 minute?

pyrates999 avatar Dec 27 '23 08:12 pyrates999

Yes, every one minute.

Nuriell avatar Dec 28 '23 06:12 Nuriell

Today i started the PC, slideshow blocked. I resterted a first time, slideshow blocked. I restarted a second time, slideshow worked.

I changed no settings anywhere and still i cannot get any info for the console, i don't know waht to think about this.
