Windows 11 forced Desktop path in Windows Explorer

Explorer Patcher: 22621.2506.60.1

Windows: Windows 11 Home 23H2 22631.2715 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22677.1000.0 (Italian)

When i plug-in or plug-out any USB device all tabs from Windows Explorer are brought to the desktop address.

It will not do all the address passes, tabs will go directly to Desktop Folder (the one you get by writing Desktop in the address bar), by pressing "back" it will go to the previuous used folder.

This will not happen uninstalling Explorer Patcher, so i think it's a bug as i don't seem to see a setting for this purpose.

I also use Open Shell (4.4.191) and Retro Bar (1.14.11), so this can be realet to some conflict that i don't know about but with some trial it seem not.

Please confirm if the following will happen:

  1. open up windows explorer and go to any folder except desktop folder in tab 1
  2. open up windows explorer and go to any folder except desktop folder in tab 2
  3. plug in usb thumb drive
  4. windows explorer tab 1 will change path to be the desktop path
  5. windows explorer tab 2 will change path to be the desktop path

1-2-3 Done.

4-5 Happen most time i glug in a device, every time i plug out a device.

I also tryed opening 2 instances of windows explorer with multiple tabs open in different paths, all the tabs go to desktop without exception.

Try uninstalling retrobar and see if it still happens. Then uninstall open shell and see if it still happens.

Thank you for confirming this could be a bug in EP. Please wait for a developer to respond.

One thing you can try is to install a pre-release version of EP: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases/tag/22621.2506.60.1_a7a3d27

Then check what happens when using the console in explorer patcher. Open up the properties application for explorer patcher, go to advanced, and click on enable console. Then try to cause this again.

Then copy and paste the output from the EP console.
