It should not be possible for an app running without admin privileges to crash your entire operating system. If an app can do that, it signifies a bug in the OS or a hardware issue.

It looks like macOS 15.7.2 was released just a few hours ago, and the patch notes include:

Kernel

Available for: macOS Sequoia

Impact: An app may be able to cause unexpected system termination

Description: The issue was addressed with improved memory handling.

CVE-2025-43398: Cristian Dinca (icmd.tech)

(Note that "an app can crash the system" is classified as a security bug.)

I'm not sure if that specific bug is what's causing your system to crash, but you could try updating and see if it fixes things.

If things are still broken, there might be other issues. Have you installed any kernel extensions or messed with your system much beyond installing standard apps? If it's a stock macOS install and it's still crashing, you might consider reporting the bug to Apple.

Nope, even after performing the update, it still crashes.

You should report this bug to Apple, then.

I've also experienced this bug on macOS 15. I'm on a MacBook Air M4 if it helps.

There's nothing I can do to fix this bug, because it is by definition a bug in macOS. You should report it to Apple.
