Petrified Forest - Acid Spitter & Acid changes

Acid Pools allow the spawning of a peculiar creature - the Acid Spitter. These spit Acid Spit at nearby players and mobs (with a hard-coded blacklist for mobs native to the Petrified Forest). These inflict damage and durability damage on player armour (%-based, perhaps 5%? Depending on how easy it is to dodge). These projectiles ''arc'' strongly, e.g they're not shot directly at the player but at the block the player or the mob is standing upon in an arc (if that is possible). When nothing is hit, this leaves a puddle of Acid - this puddle dissipates within 10 seconds unless it has landed on a block that Acid can dissolve, in which case, after 10 seconds, the block its on will be corroded, with all the usual effects (read below). These mobs drop Acid Phlegm and perhaps some sort of plate that does not corrode.

Acid fluid changes:

  • It dissolves blocks and destroys items (accompanied by a blacklist of what blocks and items it cannot corrode). When a block is dissolved, it spawns a new acid source block.
  • When something that has durability is thrown into it, the acid will dissolve a % of its durability (until it's gone) instead of immediately consuming it.
  • Items thrown into it do not immediately disappear: this takes x amount of time (with a random deviation).

Anything that is in contact with acid makes a rather fizzy sound of sorts, basically a heavier version of the sound the acid makes by itself.

Obviously, mobs or players caught in it will also dissolve, dealing half a heart of damage every second. For players wearing armour, every second inflicts a % of damage onto it. This is lesser for metal-based armour sets and does not happen with gem-based armour sets.

Acid itself isn't used for much but may be interesting for other purposes - players are quite creative, and I'm sure that, if we make the fluid interesting, they'll eventually find a use for it. For example, pigman farms made with Acid would have all tools and rotten flesh dissolve, but leaving the gold nuggets since metal items would be blacklisted (I'll make a blacklist for this).

Blacklist to start with should include:

  • Blocks made out of metal or gems (so anything with material type metal or gem if that's a thing, I vaguely remember it being a thing).
  • Volcanic Rock
  • Petrified Wood Rock stuff
  • Umber-related blocks
  • any type of Glass
  • more stuff

I would also like to see the particles Acid emits changed from blue flames to blue nether portal-like particles, I think that'd look more like fizzy acid.

Further idea: Caves in the PetriFor below y=12 are filled with Acid.
