Make "news" alert disappear on the dashboard when the user viewed its contents

Make "news" alert disappear on the dashboard when the user viewed its contents. If there's more than one item in the "news" box, they disappear one after another.

I am totally not sure if this can be done but yeah.

Right now the intention is that if you click the X then it will mark all news as read and hide it.

my inclination is to wontfix this, i don't think the number of lines of code needed to implement this would be worth it
