Updated to 4.7.4 and can’t load USB drive
Running Mac os 26 and UTM was working until I loaded UTM 4.7.4 this morning. Now I can’t open the shared directory on a USB drive, If I try to browse it it just comes up with a message “the file can’t be found” the virtual machine machine Debian will run without problems but I can’t get access to the USB drive. It worked fine before updating to 4.7.4 It does not crash just won’t load the USB drive. I am running a mac M2 mini. I also tried it on my M4 mac laptop and get exactly the same issue.
tried a different USB drive and the problem appears to be that the drive is formatted as exfat. I have another drive attached which is formatted as apfs and it attaches no problem. This only happened after i updated UTM.
Can you provide debug logs from both the old version and new version?
Hi - The only instruction I can find for the debug log is /Applications/UTM.app/Contents/MacOS/UTM which returns no such file or directory exists
When you create a new issue the template gives you instructions for getting the debug log.
Turned on the log tried to attach a USB drive and it won’t load a VM. Just gives the message that the “file can’t be found". If I try to find a log the Export Debug log is greyed out. Presumably this is because i can’t start a VM with a USB drive formatted as exfat. If I attach a USB drive formatted as APFS the VM will open and I get a debug log as attached.
