Describe the issue
Hello, trying to install Mac OS 10.13 or 10.14. on UTM on a M2 machine. I have the iso images of the systems and the utm config files but it crashes every time in the installation process.

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.5.4 Universal
  • macOS Version: Sonoma 14.6.1
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): M2 max

Crash log
Here are 8 UTM crash logs, running arm native but also in Rosetta as I tried in case that would work. Archive.zip

best

Hi,

I ran into the same issue using as ISO a disk image created from the Apple "Install macOS Mojave" using this method: https://github.com/BITespresso/createinstalliso .

Then I tried to search on archive.org and finally, it worked using the "Mojave_10.14.6.iso" image from https://archive.org/details/macos_iso

Hope this helps, Michel

Hi,

Please find the settings. It is some months ago though, so I do not recall changing much (I think I remove the "drive" initially used for launching the Install Image, the "Network", and the "System" config.

@MichelRabozee Thanks. I thinks my issue is with the bios/uefi since I can't get the iso to boot. I just get an uefi menu without any commands. I'm new to qemu so I need to do more research...

I had the same with some of the ISO I found. That is why I specifically mentioned the one I had working: the "Mojave_10.14.6.iso" image from https://archive.org/details/macos_iso

==> https://archive.org/download/macos_iso/Mojave_10.14.6.iso

Yep, I've used that ISO.

I've just found https://khronokernel.com/apple/silicon/2021/01/17/QEMU-AS.html and I've just been able to boot into it and start the install...

Cool that it works (strange that I did not need OVMF.bin with the ISO I used). Thank you for the extra information !
