USB devices not recognized by MacOS 10.11 guest

Open beowulff opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Other than the default keyboard and trackpad, no USB devices are recognized by the 10.11 (El Capitan) guest. UTM sees the device when I plug it in, and it even disconnects a flash drive from the host OS when I approve it to be connected to the guest OS, but no device shows up in the System Profiler.

I am specifically trying to get a FTDI USB-Serial adapter working. It appears in the list of USB devices, I select it, approve it to be attached to the Guest OS, and... nothing happens.

How did you get macOS El Capitan to work?

I used the pre-configured 10.11 VM from here: https://github.com/adespoton/utmconfigs/blob/main/README.md

Changed the Ethernet configuration as shown here: https://gist.github.com/judge2020/692c3235a587cbfe5fa3db20f46c7110

Made an ISO from my existing 10.11 installer, and installed it in UTM. Worked first time.

It’s actually usable. I need an older OS to run some legacy 32-bit apps with I can’t do without. Getting USB to work would be a huge help.
