DYFI form - improvements to geolocator function

Open vinceq-usgs opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

Alaska users are complaining that automatic "Find current location" function is giving erroneous results (possibly due to IP address). I also suspect that some other user complaints of "nonresponsive form" or "submit button not activating" may be from location function not working properly.

Suggest possible ways to mitigate this:

  1. When using current location, prompt user to check that the answer is correct.
  2. Have a "help" popup for when location is erroneous or not working ("Location may be erroneous because locate by IP is imprecise... Try other location methods")
  3. Remind user to scroll down to see the rest of the form.
  4. At the end of the form, summary page with location (lat/lon AND street address, if given, otherwise city/state) with the option to go back and redo the form.

Also, is there way to allow the U of Alaska folks to test changes and give feedback?

With all these complaints we're getting, it might be useful to put a link to complaint form on the form itself at the bottom of the form:

[Scroll down for the rest of the form] [Help] [Cancel] [Submit]
