Hi @sneumann!

Thanks for your report. These two tool are indeed different. One is using cat and one is the build-in tool of Galaxy.

@jennaj what do you think about hiding the build-in tool? Cat should not be a problem as the functionallity is the same I think.

The built-in tool is present to make it easier to perform basic manipulations without requiring tool installs.

Choices include at least the following:

1. Leave everything as-is. Server admins can either ignore the duplicate when/if they decide to install the alternate version from the ToolShed, or the admin can configure the tool panel to hide the built-in tool.
2. Swap out the current built-in tool to be the alternative tool in a default Galaxy install.

Option 2 will probably trigger other changes, and if not addressed at the same time, I think option 1 is better for usegalaxy.* servers. Meaning: could impact GTN tutorials, other community tutorials, any workflows/slides/etc attached to those, cloud/docker/training images ... Plus, there are other tools like this, "select first/last lines" aka head/tail are examples. If we swap out one, should probably swap them all.

The forms are slightly different, but agree the end result is the same for each. These are all very basic manipulations.
