addressing #264, graphData in api

The solution I suggested for issue 264 needs the /api to also contain the graph data. This will also be more efficient than querying the commits from the browser on top of making it easy to provide the functionality requested in the issue.

If this is accepted, I'll also open a pull request for the status page which should resolve the issue.
