[Bug]: Show reminders doesn't bring up the reminders list in Windows

Open nasko opened this issue 1 year ago • 9 comments

Describe the bug

When I execute the Reminder: Show reminders command, nothing happens - no list is displayed, in neither the right-, nor the left pane.

Manifested in two environments:

  • Windows 10 Enterprise Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.1415)
    • Obsidian 1.1.9
    • Obsidian-Reminder 1.1.15
  • Windows 11 22H2 (OS Build 22621.963)
    • Obsidian 1.1.9
    • Obsidian-Reminder 1.1.15

Expected Behavior

I expect that a dedicated window containing the list of existing reminders should be displayed in the right application pane.

Steps to reproduce

  • Create several tasks with valid but different due dates. (This is because I wasn't sure which reminders were expected to be listed with the Show reminders command - pending reminders, or activated and dismissed ones)
    • A task with a due date in the future
    • A task with a due/reminder date in one minute.
      • Wait for the in-app pop-up reminder to kick in.
      • Dismiss it without postponing it.
  • Execute Ctrl-P to bring up the Select a command pop-over
  • Execute the Reminder: Show reminders command
  • Observe that no reminders list window is displayed

@wiyrim These types of projects are not commercial ones where organizations are committed to maintaining the software because customers are paying for it. We should be gratefult that the author has put in the effort to create this plugin and let us use it. We don't know what situation they are at the moment - maybe they're overwhelmed at work, they may have personal issues and might not feel like responding to every support requests there is, etc.

@nasko Thank you for your concern. I am fine! On a personal note, I have not been able to devote much time to this project due to the birth of my child and various other factors.

If you guys submit a pull request, I will review and incorporate changes as much as possible.

This also happens to me on MacOS

This happens to me on two different Linux devices and two Android devices so I guess it's independent of the operating system. I thought that maybe it was a conflict between two plugins so I deactivated all other plugins, but no change. There is also no error log in the developer console. I can inspect the object and the reminders are there.

The calendar popup works, too.

I can also see the reminders in the sidebar at the right, so this bug is not really disturbing my workflow.

@SuzanaK How did you expose the reminders in the sidebar on the right? Could I ask you to show a screenshot here (of course masking any personal details from your reminders)? Thanks!

I'm not able to see them anywhere, and that was the reason why I logged this issue - I was hoping that executing the Reminder: Show reminders command would display them, but this I can't achieve.

@nasko I did nothing to show the reminders on the sidebar. They are already there when I start Obsidian. I'ts another tab on the right sidebar together with the tags, the calendar etc. This is what it looks like:

OMG, thanks @SuzanaK!

I wasn't able to see the Reminders tab, because my right sidebar hadn't been expanded enough obviously:

Once I expanded it, I spotted the tab :-)
