i could maybe have it so clicking it pops up a new window or something but getting it to act like the official client would be really difficult

So the user wouldn't be able to delete/edit/reply/pin ?

it would be the same as whatever you can do in the pinned messages window

Why ?

because the chat list is a simple ListBox and i would have to transform it into some weird pseudo list thing that loads stuff depending on when you scroll etc etc itd be a nightmare probably
