retrieving genre data
hallo, this is exactly the plugin I was hoping to find with beets! I get a lot of my music from bandcamp, and it'd be neat if genre data could be retrieved as well as other metadata. is it possible to add this functionality? it's annoying that bc don't provide genre data as it is on downloaded files, since my music collection is now a mess of unclassified albums.
anyway, if you think this is possible, that'd be so great!

I'm glad you like the plugin! I agree, but looking at some bandcamp albums I can't find genre information. The closest thing I see are tags, but people use that for other information as well so we cant use that directly. Do you have any examples of albums with genre information?
well yeah, tags are also used for location and other information, but they have a lot of genre related information in them. could it work with a genre whitelist, or non genre blacklist, ala the lastgenre plugin?
a blacklist would probab work better, seeing how many microgenres there are on bandcamp.

revisiting this as it would still be useful - MPD works well with multiple genres, separated by comma, so a way to import tag data as genre would be great. would it be possible to implement this?
