Try to clean Ardour's VST Blacklist (in Preferences). But if the plug-in ended up there, it probably failed to communicate with Ardour during plug-in scan.
I guess a single line of white pixels denoting the currently refreshes area would also be useful.

Interestingly Wolf Spectrum does resize correctly in Carla (it does not in Ardour though).
I think this is an issue with LV2 in general. I don't know about VST3, but LV2 plug-ins have issues with resizing all the time. Maybe we're lacking some standardized...
