Alternative for download from Google Chrome Store

This extension seems to be very useful to protect one's privacy. However, as far as I understand, it seems that this extension for a Chromium browser, can only be downloaded from the Google Chrome Store. I do not want to use the Chrome Store, because that compromises my privacy.

Is there an option (and if not, can this option be created) to download this extension from another place than the Google Chrome Store?

Thanks for the example, I'll work on getting this sorted soon as it shouldn't be too hard to implement.
