easier local recipe storage
Was expecting when clicking the "add your own recipe" button would start a text editor to locally add your own recipe in markdown format rather than direction to add recipes to the repository. Hopefully this could be a future feature?
Why not just add it to the repo and share it with all of us?
But I was thinking of integrating this feature later: An extra view for local recipes, which when done you could just press publish which would create an MR on the repo. Was just an idea, haven't put any effort into it yet
I plan to, but yes that proposed feature would be ideal.
I usually write several drafts before I feel comfortable "finalizing" a recipe. Test cooking, tweaking, trying to decide which photo of the food looks best. So it'd be nice to edit the recipe in the app itself before publishing without having to use a separate application (notes-up/ghostwriter/ect).
I also agree. Installed elementary on the family PC and my folks would love to add their own recipes, but without a graphic UI they cannot. I would love to offer a bounty for that, if you are willing to develop such a GUI :)
You could write them up in another app and send them to me if creating a PR is too much work. I just don't have the time to write a recipe writer right now. The store offers great writer apps such as Quilter.
I think part of the issue is also that most people are not comfortable using markdown. and your "cooking mom" doesn't always exactly feel comfortable with tech stuff, so a gui to add local recipes would be the best solution imo. you can still find a way to have a publish button there. Also, we'd need multi language support and recipe filtering to make it work i think
I understand ofcourse. But it's just the time issue.

There is some multilanguage support I think (you have to specify language of the recipe and you can provide multiple mutations of it). Filtering is now done by searching, however adding tags or keywords would improve it. Tags are better than categories as they are generally more flexible.
Back to the topic - I was searching if there would be a way to make automated PR using something like IFTTT. My idea was to submit recipe through Google Form, where the data would be stored in Google Sheets. Then find a IFTTT recipe that would plug the data from Sheets into PR on github. But there doesn't seem to be such a IFTTT recipe :disappointed:
