Deploy and Heartcore: More details in the changed window

Open royberris opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Summary

When working with Heartcore and multiple developers are on a project together we can see which things have changed. But not what has changed. Sometimes more junior developers will make changes that not meant to be or in need of review. Right now I can see which documents have changed, but not what has changed. I need to pull up two environments and compare both environments manually.

Looking at the image it is nice to see that something changed. But what? We know the document, the timestamp but no details :(

Use case

  • Reviewing other developers work in detail
  • Being able to revert changes exactly to their previous state
    • which would be manually now, but ideally with the press of a button later (probably different feature request)
  • Being able to compare changes between environments on a detailed level

Hi @royberris, thanks for your suggestion!

This summary is provided by Umbraco Cloud - though Heartcore uses it, it's not a Heartcore feature as such. Therefore I'm going to transfer this ticket over to the Cloud portal tracker.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the experience with Umbraco Heartcore in a multi-developer environment.

I understand that currently, you're able to identify which documents have been modified, but the lack of specific details about these changes necessitates manual comparison between environments. This process can be particularly challenging when reviewing work from less experienced team members, ensuring quality, or when specific revisions need to be identified for potential reversion.

I am forwarding your feedback to the product backlog to consider for future updates. The idea of enhancing our change tracking features to include more granular details and potentially introducing a one-click reversion option is something that we consider to be supported for Heartcore projects. While this may translate into a separate feature request, it aligns well with our goals for improving user experience and collaboration efficiency on the platform.
