Problem creating user from invitation link
Issue description
We have a customer who received an invitation link in this format https://www.s1.umbraco.io/profile/activate/?email={email}&token={token}
but after filling the field the user gets an error "A user with the specified ID already exists. Please choose a different one".
The user was of course when invited, but has not yet logged in and still of state "Invited".
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We have encountered similar cases in the past, and typically, the workaround has been for the user to reset their password.
However, we understand that this is not an ideal solution, and we are keen on investigating this specific error case further to provide a more permanent fix. Could you please provide us with more details about the user’s account and any other relevant information? This will help us in creating a task for our Development team to look into this issue more closely and work on resolving it. I believe you have my email address already 😄
I also noticed when deleting user from backoffice, it removes the user shown in the portal as well, but the user invitation is still active.
I removed the invitation manually from the Umbraco Cloud portal and invited the user from backoffice again, which also created a new active invitation in the portal.
