Poor mapping of "badge" icon

Open Behodar opened this issue 1 month ago • 4 comments

Which Umbraco version are you using?

17.0.0

Bug summary

I'm creating this issue as suggested in https://forum.umbraco.com/t/u17-document-type-icon-oddities/6792. The "badge" icon in Umbraco 17 has changed to a circle with bumpy edges.

Specifics

When you create a document type, you can assign an icon to it. In Umbraco 13, icon-badge looked like this:

Image

That icon represents an employee badge or ID card. So far so good. But in Umbraco 17, icon-badge looks like this:

Image

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create or edit a new document type.
  2. When viewing the document type, click on the icon in the top-left corner next to its name.
  3. Type "badge" into the filter field.
  4. Notice that the icon is the bumpy circle instead of a badge/ID card.

Expected result / actual result

I would expect an icon called "badge" to be more than a circle. Actually as I type this, I wonder whether it's supposed to be something resembling a rosette, but if so that should probably get its own identifier.

icon-vcard might be a suitable replacement:

Hi there @Behodar!

Firstly, a big thank you for raising this issue. Every piece of feedback we receive helps us to make Umbraco better.

We really appreciate your patience while we wait for our team to have a look at this but we wanted to let you know that we see this and share with you the plan for what comes next.

  • We'll assess whether this issue relates to something that has already been fixed in a later version of the release that it has been raised for.
  • If it's a bug, is it related to a release that we are actively supporting or is it related to a release that's in the end-of-life or security-only phase?
  • We'll replicate the issue to ensure that the problem is as described.
  • We'll decide whether the behavior is an issue or if the behavior is intended.

We wish we could work with everyone directly and assess your issue immediately but we're in the fortunate position of having lots of contributions to work with and only a few humans who are able to do it. We are making progress though and in the meantime, we will keep you in the loop and let you know when we have any questions.

Thanks, from your friendly Umbraco GitHub bot :robot: :slightly_smiling_face:

I will mark this as up-for-grabs cause I think its a good first-issue if anyone likes to change an icon.

Let's replace the icon behind to become: icon-vcard. normally we should not change icons, but this one I would consider a bug.

Tip: Its changed in the icon-dicttionary.json and then you run the npm script for generating icons.

Good luck :-)
