I'm on Fedora 43 and GNOME 49. This extension no longer seems to work properly after the recent 8.0.0 update to the Easy Effects flatpak.

Thanks for reporting. Looks like there are two seperate problems here

  1. On version 8.0.0 cli option of --bypass (-b) stopped working. It's on the EasyEffects side and need a fix from them. (I've opened an issue)
  2. Looks like the last selected presets cannot be reached from gsetting anymore. But there is the cli -a and -s options so I can use them. I'll work on a fix as soon as I have some free time

The new version also ships a tray icon now, though it doesn't look as nice as the extension.

@gwuen in my test environment the preference to enable tray icon is seems to be disabled.

Test Environment: Fedora 43, GNOME 49, EasyEffects from Flathub, "AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support" (wow that's mouthful) extension is installed and enabled.

That's odd, it works for me™ (Flatpak as well as native package):

Can you check if EasyEffects has permissions to use dbus for this?

$ flatpak info --show-permissions com.github.wwmm.easyeffects | grep StatusNotifier
org.kde.StatusNotifierWatcher=talk

This was only added as a default, static permission four days ago, you might be on an older version.
