Are there any plan to split it into smaller issues? The idea sounds nice but it's hard to work on.

I'm having the same issue with M1 Mac and Monterey. Not sure how I can help to fix it but I'm willing to do.

@lucas-sonnabend The issue with test wasn't related to code, it was on Travis side. Tests are fixed on a second test run, but now coverall fails :face_with_head_bandage:

What is your Python version / how did you install it? Also, i'd suggest to work in a virtualenv. Windows is still a wild beast when it comes to Python.
