The program is detected as a virus.

Bitdefender detects this program as a virus. I've used a similar program called 
MonitorOff. This was also detected as a virus. Is there something to do about 
it?

it's a false alert. You can just whitelist this application. it's using win32 
API's and sometimes these anti-virus scanners detect them wrongly.
