Error applying rules when switching to home screen or other app

Open irontechmonkey opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

Error applying rules, reproduced like so:

  • Wifi is connected and Mattlog and Afwall are opened and firewall is enabled.
  • Start log in Mattlog
  • Switch directly to Afwall (recents double tap)
  • Apply rules (the same rule that are already in place)
  • Press Android Home button to return to home screen. (or less frequently, switch directly back to logging or to other app via recects double tap).
  • Error applying rules reported by toast
  • Switch back to Afwall+
  • Firewall is now disabled. This is a difference from previous release version in which Afwall did not realize it was disabled but still require replication of rules.)

Firewall Logs Please get the log from Menu -> Show Rules -> (menu) Export to storage and attach it here

IPv4rules.log

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

  • Device: [e.g. Samsung]
  • Android OS: [e.g. LOS 15.1 ] Moto G7 Power stock Android 10 before and after a refresh of the OS, Magisk for root, no other mods..

Additional context Add any other context about the problem here. Notes:

  • The issue is more readily reproduced when Wi-Fi is enabled and connected than it is when there is no connection and Wi-Fi is disabled. I did not test specifically regarding mobile data.

  • Seeing that the firewall is disabled is an improvement in the beta because then there is at least an indication that something occurred.

  • Setting a delay before applying rules avoids the failure applying logs but in addition to the initial delay applying rules, this setting seems to cause even the manual applications of rules to go slowly through the count of apps. For me there is a diminishing return there and it is easier to just give the rules another second or to the few times I encounter this situation. That being said, for some usage cases especially when active rules are in effect and the stuff happens in the background, the delay setting should certainly be helpful.

attempt to attach IPv4rules.log log

Aha, minor FYI, theere is some default out-of-the-box settring in Firefox which prevents attaching files but Chrome was able to to it. As for logs about Afwall+ I also have a log cat.

Additionally this may be considered a non issue. I reported it because it might shed light on some other reported logging issues.
