Point tracker accuracy
I have a setup with a 3 led cap and PS3 Eye camera. I used old plastic sunglasses to fashion a crude visible light filter. In principle this works great and I always get 3 clear dots when viewing the webcam directly. The detection by Linuxtrack is not so good though. The cap needs to be very close to the camera and even then it sometimes detects a stray noise pixel in the corners over an actual dot.
I think the image pre-processing may have something to do with it. If you can spare a few lines about the steps that a captured image goes through, I'll go and do some experiments to see if I can improve it.
I'm sorry for the long delay, but here you go... When you open up ltr_gui, go to camera preview and start tracking. Now look at the preview - do you see there the blobs? You can try tweaking the threshold setting (go for the sweet spot where the blobs are clear but there is no noise in the image). When the blobs are clear, they should have a white cross over them; if not, try playing with the valid blob size constraints - set the numbers in such a way, that when you are moving your head through all extremes, the white crosses stay in the blobs...
If it doesn't help, please attach a screenshot so I can see the actual problem... Kind regards, Michal
